A good result if you use a ‘amatuer’ camera. It’s good to see the RNHF aircraft. Do you have any more Seafury Pics?

Thanks for the kind words Little B, It was a very tiring but worthwhile day. We had some good stuff coming in too. We even had two PA28s, one with Polly and Peter Vacher and the other with Neville and Gwen Duke! My mate Chris Thompson got a lot of attention for parking the Cri Cri under the engine of the 747 and I was pleased that Paul Ambrose got to display the Pitts as it is tough for anyone to break into display flying, and he flew a good, safe display.

I also thought a lot of the other flying was superb. Ernie Hoblyn in the Sopwith Triplane deserves special mention for getting wet. He hit a rainstorm just as he took off but soldiered on. A real trooper and also a v. nice guy.

There was a height restriction over the airfield so there were not a lot of vertical manouvers but this actually led to some very nice display flying. I thought all three Hurricanes were flown exceptionally well and Stuart Goldspink and Nick Grey’s finale in the Hurricanes was well a flown, tight formation that showed off the aeroplanes very well.

I can’t comment on the commentary as I was not listening.

However, a big thankyou should be made to the Rutland Group, especially Jim McAllister, the boss, for allowing the show to go ahead and to the group of people who put this together, many of whom were doing it on a volunteer basis. Hopefully we will get another one next year.
