Vimy makes twilight landing in Toronto

Last night, as the last golden ray of sunlight vanished the Vimy appeared on the horizon after making a flight from Oshkosh. It will be at the Toronto Aerospace Museum for the next few days undergoing maintenance and installation of a camera link system before heading to Ottawa and then on to St. Johns, Newfoundland where it will recreate the first non-stop trans Atlantic flight.

The light could not have been worse but I did the best I could.

Lovely pics Eric.

Does anyone remember the magnificent day at Old Warden when the Vimy replica flew off the grass there, displaying in formation with the BrisFit? 🙂

Yes Mike,
I do remember that day.

The more I read about this flight the more exciting I find it.
I hope it goes well. I’d love to be in Ireland to see them make landfall there.
Cheers
Andy

According to the answer to the question I posed on the other thread about the Vimy, Orenda.

Blank look from me.

They are, apparently Canadian V8s. This was being discussed at Oshkosh five years ago when I saw it there. It toook a while to happen.

I hope it goes well.

Actually it’s the light that makes the photos even better in my opinion.

Saw it in England a few years ago – you just do not realise how SLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW it is until you’ve seen it sailing it’s stately way across the sky! Good luck to ’em and thank you for the lovely photos. One of my Granny’s Uncles was a metman at Toronto in the 1940s – wonder what he’d have made of it even then?

Totally agree with all the ‘wows’ above.

Great pictures Eric, they really sum up for me what old aeroplanes are about
