Hello Everyone.
Had a fantastic trip out west which saw a short run up of our number three engine on primer fuel only absolutely awesome! 😀
Here are the first few pics of what I was up to. I managed to make a template for the w/op radio mounting bulkhead before cutting it out of plywood and mounting the radios TR1154 55 onto bulkhead followed by the antenna selector switch. Does anyone have drawings of the actual radio rakcs that these would have mounted to?

Erm….ahem…..er not that technical me – another chap built the display but he is a radio nut, it broadly conforms to a diagram of a Mk X installation so broadly everything is in the right place i think…but if you disagree i bow to your wisdom!
All the best

Ben The w/op position looks good! Just curious is it due to space restrictions that you mounted the RA 10d and the MN26c above the ta 12s?

As promised peter- photos of our MK X W/OP position

Ah thanks any pics?

You misunderstand me my friend!
We have a mocked up Mk X set up on loan at the Museum at Sywell, its actually based on a DC6 cargo pannier – but all the kit inside is genuine, regrettably no MKX at Sywell but they did build about 300 MKIIs there during the War….

HP57 we have a correct dorsal turret already and it is on a replica training cart. I think they will put the Martin in eventually to replicate the MKX not sure though

which MKX texantomcat?
Which one do you work on?

Apologies in advance if this is a daft question, Peter, but I always thought Canadian built Lancasters used American Bendix wireless equipment, not the British T1154/R1155. Or have I got it wrong?
Me too- our MK X Wireless ops position has Bendix kit….helluva lot harder to find than 1154/55 set up though, mind you the ’54s are getting expensive now…

Now where to find a FN150 dorsal turret? Perhaps CWH would like to donate theirs as it is not going to be used on FM213.
Cheers

A bit like the way the Bomber Command Association (N.Z.) back-engineered the B VII in MoTaT to a wartime B III. Fair enough, thanks!

Steve.
The exterior still looks the same unfortunately but she now has a repainted spinner and backplate in matt finish which will look really nice once her prop returns from overhaul! They did manage to reskin the rear fuselage forward of the turret and also the rear turret has been rebuilt with new glass which really cleans up her back end.
682AL Yes you are right in that the later mkXs had bendix fit but the earlier ones also had the raf style as well. We are trying to replicate the interior as close to that of Ian Bazelgettes aircraft lancaster ND811 hence the Tr radio fit. We do have a very complete bendix fit which will go into our mockup cockpit.

part 2
Second week was used up with having new Glycol Header Tank mounting clamps manufactured to fasten the header tank onto the engine. She’s starting to look good!
