"ACME" Quiz

Time for another quiz!

I dug this one up from my photo files.

You know the weight that lands on the cartoon character with ‘TWO TONS’ written on it? Well, here’s a real one. Trick is, it’s got an aviation connection.

The usual rules, what, where, where from etc…

The text on it says “2 ton. 6/10/42”

Answer in due course. Enjoy.

And the winner is…

It’s one of those things you know must exist, but of course normally never see. Two tons seems a bit light to me, given the weight of a fuelled up Catalina, but I guess they worked!

I’ll have to find another teaser now. 😀

Lake Boga

I speculate that it is a mooring weight from Lake Boga, a Seaplane base in NW Victoria near Swan Hill. Now located at Pt Cook where JDK took the photo.

EN830 was right first, as to what it is.

It’s from a Lake, a Looooong way from Windermere, and it had Cats, and I think, some more interesting types too.

It’s a Looong way from Wintermere and about 3hr from that lake, but close to ‘the bay’ and in the middle of a very old airfield, with a jetty and with a Museum.

Go…

Dear oh dear.

One correct guess, no attempt at location by that person.

Many amusing replies. Have a cigar.

Thought there were some clever people here? 😀

I think it’s a paperweight off the adjutant’s desk.

Perhaps a ballast weight from a flying boat?

Or a tie down, maybe for an airship?

It’s gotta be one of those things they use to hold aircraft wings down so in a storm or heavy winds the wing doesn’t fly off, they do it at aviation museums e.t.c

Would a tie-down be too obvious?
