Mary Alice

Ah. I looked through the pictures I took before and it is there! I don’t know how I didn’t notice it before. I’ve seen her about 6 or 7 times now. For some reason it jumped out at me when I saw her on Saturday. Thanks for the info.

Ross, It has been like this since the mid 80’s, you probably have not spotted it before, I remember having to change it

When was the swap done? The nose on Mary Alice wasn’t cracked at the end of February. I hope they get a replacement because Mary Alice is an excellent restoration but the damaged nose detracts from its appearance slightly.

Nose

Do not fret, this nose used to be on Sally B in the mid 80’s, unfortunatley while undergoing winter maintenance, an access stand caught the nose and put a crack in it. The nose on Mary Alice was in very good condition and a swap was done. This nose with the crack in it was the more rounded type whereas the one that was fitted to Sally B had a sharper front end.
This in turn was destroyed at Binbrook while filming Memphis Belle after a mishap, luckily there was another spare avaliable.
