Only two aircrafts from Vormezele Air Force were on show(static):OO-DAF & OO-VOR.
I learned that OO-MAF, the Buchon is not likely to fly this year. Problems were experienced. I was also told that a taller tail would be built in.
Three ex Belgian Light Army Aviation Super Cubs were also present.
Fortunately for the Artillery enthusiasts, various historical and current vehicles were present.

A bit late, But as Dave said, the Buchon is certainly keeping it’s merlin engine. The tail-job is reported to be done already. However, it is unlikely that the OO-MAF wil fly in 2005.

IIRC the Buchon will have ‘K’ tail, but will remain Merlin powered.
Dave
Very interesting! I presume it will be repainted in a representative K scheme – pity, ‘cos I like the sandy colours!

Who knows?
Jochen (alias Stieglitz) might know more

That’s what an engineer from the local aeroclub told me. To the best of my knowledge Bf-109G fins are used when the original Merlin is replaced by a DB 605.
Meaning that Vormezeele Buchon is in for a DB conversion???

The mail said that the owners son, who could not arrive before 15.00 hrs, had to be there before the Buchon could be brought out. If so, I realy wished I had sit it out. BW Roger

I visited the event yesterday, mainly to view the OO-MAF. Unfortunatly it wasn’t on show, so at around 12.00 I went home. Then I received a mail that the OO-MAF was planned to be brought to the static after 15.00 hrs. Do you know if this realy was the case? If so, I guess that most have missed it. BW Roger
