Cees or Elliott,
I don’t find Flypast magazine very often here in Vancouver. What edition will the Whitley Project be published in?
Cheers,
Todd

Best of luck to one and all. You deserve a real pat on the back for your efforts. I am just trying to recall my first Flt Sgt (circa 1988) telling me about a cache of Whitleys towed from an airfield around the Elgin/Nairn area and dumped in a local quarry at the end of the war……….

A great project!
I realise the project will take years to complete but what are the plans for the aircraft once finished? Has an agreement been reached to display the aircraft at Hendon/Duxford/elsewhere? Do the RAFM or IWM have any Whitley parts in store that would help the project? I understand from the website that the MOD have been very cooperative in the various recovery operations, will they also provide assistance or accommodation to help the restoration like they are with the Stirling project?
Best of luck to Elliot and his team
Stuart

Kye,
It’s a project to rebuild a Whitley Mk V to static museum condition, which is a gargantuan project bearing in mind the size of the aircraft and the fact that no complete examples exist today. Elliott has been scouring the UK for some years now to locate various parts from crash sites, scrapyards, etc, and as I understand it, is now starting to move from the ‘collect’ phase to the ‘put back together’ phase.
There is more information available about the project here – www.geocities.com/whitley_project – which is well worth a look.
Elliott, did you have any further thoughts about the possibility of an open day…?

Thanks for the mention Cees. Things are really hotting up now with the Whitley. We hope that 2005 will be a very good year for the project!
If you can turn anything up we will be very grateful indeed.
