Following on from my last thread showing how far we had got with the Sea Vixen at the MAM, here are some more photo’s. I hope you find these interesting, as you don’t often get to see these bits!

I won’t say on the forum what I really think of you for putting that picture of me on here……………your a nasty man Bostin!!!!!
Please note forum chums. The images of the person under the airframe are that of a false nature! He asked me to take a piccy of him under there to make it look like he was working…….how cheap!!

Hi Rob (and bostin01 – have we met?)
You’ve been talking to someone over a coffee haven’t you! 😀
Really good set of pix there Rob, supports the notion that there’s a lot of unseen work going on on that airframe. Guess you’ll have most of the electrics up and running by the end of summer, maybe even a working cockpit.
Those pics could be the basis of an interesting web site about your beast I reckon. Need not be fancy with all the bells and whistles, maybe along the lines of 922’s.

Nice to have these photos posted Rob – is it possible to add captions to the less obvious ones?
I sometimes think about the possible dilemma at MAM and other museums of occasionally opening access panels/doors.
It’s great to open them and let people gaze at some of the internals but, perhaps, spoils it for someone who wants a clean pic of the aircraft. Hope anyone in that situation asks to shut them briefly for their pic.
Roger Smith.
To be honest with you Roger, no one has ever asked me to close them for a picture. I have, however, had numerous people say to me that it makes a change to see panels open as it shows that the airframe internaly is being worked on!
By: bostin01 - 2nd May 2005 at 14:13
Take your point, however, normally these hatches are closed, just that yesterday we had them open while I continued to clean and restore internal parts, and check over the electrics etc, which luckily are in very good nick! 😀
So, Rob took the opportunity to snap these systems, whilst they were accessable to share on the forum. 🙂
Take care
