Aviation Museums in and around Las Vegas

Does anyone know if there’s an aviation museum in or around Las Vegas. I assume Nellis has some sort of historical setup on the base but I was wondering if there might be something else.

Thanks sincerely Gerry

Thanks Roger and the rest for the info. I’m headed to Vegas in the middle of next month. Getting on the base as a serving Canadian Military member should be pretty straight forward. I’ll post pics.

Thanks sincerely Gerry

I don’t have Bob Ogden’s book covering the Western states but from Michael Blaugher’s book these are the entries for Las Vegas
CAF Nevada wing: A-26
Lost Birds: Convair 880 and several other jet airliners
Near Scenic Airways: Ford 5AT, C-124
Military Heritage Command: P2V-7
Nellis AFB: F-86, F-100, F-105G, F-117A, F-4C, F-5E

and at Indian Springs (just north of LV) there is an F-84F in the city park

I think some of the info in Blaugher’s book can be out of date. I went looking for at an F-86 in a town in Missouri 2 1/2 years ago and it had been removed from the town quite a few years before.

Miracles can happen but being brazen also works.

a few years ago they were operating F-4G models 561st if i remember correctly. Commander was JR Uken…..

I took pen to paper and wrote to him, well fax actually, “please mr can i come and take pictures of all of your planes”………..well not the exact words but something like that.

He repied and said “yes sonny, pop along anytime, ring me when you get to the main gate”

so off i went and had a great tour around the Unit……….and they gave me beer…

it is worth a try, they can only say no and what have you lost.

also did the same thing at richards gebaur afb in missouri and some A-7 base in oklahoma.

go for it

I’m not aware of any others off the base. Getting into Nellis to look at their stuff is next to impossible, but miracles do happen:
