Useful Web Link

While hunting for photos of wheels (sometimes I can’t even belive myself..), I found this. It has a great deal of useful information and it well worth bookmarking for reference!

Interesting

I did not know Luftwaffe types had reporting names!

Mike = Bf109E-3

Same for Nato reporting names for Mitchell, Catalina, P-39 etc etc!

A similar but far more comprehensive source that I find very useful although it’s not on the Net is:
“The Smithsonian NASM Directory of Airplanes (ouch!), their designers and manufacturers” edited by Dana Bell, ISBN 1-85367-490-7 that I picked up for a song the last time I was at Duxford (too long ago!)
382 pages of solid and almost fault-free information!

Interesting find. Tis the Museums Data Organisation’s thesaurus for the RAFM. To be honest I don’t know if it’s used solely by RAFM or by other aviation museums also.
