Duxford Accomodation Help required

I am thinking about taking a trip in Late August to England to visit Various Spitifire rebuilders and restorations. I plan on Visiting Duxford for a day or two. If anybody has any good reccomendation on Hotels near the airfield I would appreciate it. As well will also be visiting the Hendon Museum in London if anybody has any good reccomendations for something near the Museum would also appreciatte this

Works well. Red Lion is 30 metres from Whittlesford railway station.Moggy

There is also the added attraction of Snappers fitting memorial to F/Lt Francois de Spirlet, Flight Commander of 609 Squadron who was killed in a take-off accident at Duxford.

Thanks for info. Walking is no problem therefore Red Lion would work for Duxford. Since you drive on the wrong side of the road I think this Colonial will stay away from renting a car. Buses, Trains, Taxis and two feet will be my mode of transportation. John thanks for info about B&B near Shuttleworth. Spit is coming along we are starting to work on the Empennage however still looking for lots of parts. If this works out I am always willing to “Eat, Drink and be Merry”

Why stay anywhere except the Red Lion?

Bags of history, walking distance from Duxford if you are fit and Adnams on the bar.

Don’t muck about. If it was good enough for W/C Bader it’s good enough for you 😉

Moggy

Of course there is always that aspect to consider. 😀

If you will have use of a car and are content with an Ibis, £37 per room per night, Stevenage Ibis is a 30 minute drive from DX and about 30 minutes from Hendon.

Hi Harold

A little further afield (40-45 Mins ) would be the B&B at Old Warden Shop/Post Office – has the benefit of being very close to Old Warden and great as well as being cheaper and next to a very nice Pub – If interested let me know and I will send details
