Hi Dave
Both were mentioned in NZ about the time of Wanaka in the Christchurch Newspaper and on TV when I stayed there so I don’t think it’s a hoax.

PS You forgot the Hurricane NEVER forget the Hurricane!!!!!
Also a contingent of 4 Yaks could be mounted from here and a few P40s don’t forget

I’ve looked at the IMDb sites for Dench, Kidman and Jackson and none mention anything about the film, though both ladies have many upcoming films. I hope this isn’t a hoax.

Hi Dave
Article on German TV (satellite here inAus) saying the movie is a Goer and that Judy Dench (Dame) and Nicole Kidman were two of the Stars and that a fleet of 40 aircraft was to be involved ?
Regards

Really? Wow. Excellent.
40 planes. Hmm, interesting. I guess what’s left of the AFC Polikarpov fleet here in NZ will appear, and a Yak or two (if the Omaka one/s get flying by then to maybe join the OFMC one). There’s the La-9 of course, that’d be a real star. 🙂
I wonder what else? DC3’s and Catalina dressed up perhpas? That’d be good if the Cat finally got a nose turret. Maybe P40’s too.
Is there still one of those ugly single engine radial powered Russian WWII biplane transport things in NZ? There used to be.
And they’d need some Germans I guess. It would be great seeing some Bf109’s or Fw190’s scooting over the Otago tundra.
It poses a really interesting prospect for both the film industry and the airshow scene in NZ for whichever months it is made. We’ve never had an aviation epic made in NZ yet (that I can think of).
I can well picture Nicole Kidman in flying kit, but not Dench. I’ll bet she’ll have her hair in buns and be the Rosa Krantz-style battleaxe boss. 😀

I suspect if the film that Peter Jackson is meant to be going to mkae soon about women in the Russian Air Force is still going ahead, it may remain in NZ for that (or perhaps return) as the OFMC is meant to be involved in that project. Purle rumours and media talk, so if this is worng, I apologise. I hope it is made though.
DaveM2 was talking recently about how Ray Hanna is building a new hangar for this aircraft at Wanaka, if I recall right.

She is painted almost the same as that Yak3 in Germany (D-FYAK). She looks great!
See this pic of D-FYAK to compare:

She looks stunning, Is it still planned to bring her to the UK for displays?
