One for Dave M2 perhaps
Anybody heard of a K-4 restoration to airworthy condition – mentioned on Hyperscale
Is the Ray Wagner’s project or another?

Thanks guys
Lynn and Dave
Thanks for your responses
looking at some of the material shown on Hyperscale this looks to be an extensive reconstruction to say the least.
Will be nice to see when finished – whatever it’s provenance

Jeepman
Ray Wagner has sold his 109 projects, he had in any case decided not to do the K and concentrate on the G-14. He seemed to struggle with which one to do and consequently made little progress on either I believe. The G-14 would have been the basis in the conversion to K.

Update, here’s Michael’s reply to me:

Lynn,
We are working with major remains from three crashed K-4 aircraft. Unfortunately, owing to various sensitivities and ongoing negotiations, I can’t give identities or crash sites at the moment. The info will emerge in due course.
The tailfeathers were missing from two of the birds. The other had a wooden tailgroup, and we incline towards a wooden construction for practical reasons. I am just tracking down construction drawings for the Holz-ausführung Leitwerk at the moment.

Michael’s posted a few bits on the board over at the Lair regarding this project, but a quick scan of the first few pages doesn’t tell me much… I did post a reply to his note on HS asking about what airframes he has to work from, etc, so we’ll see what comes of that.
I’m certain it will be awesome once completed… 🙂
