A quiet day to start with ,but it got better, with several displays from the T-33, a Chipmunk display and to top all that the Latest Hurricane on the block put in a few flypasts. The BBMF Hurri appeared from the HFL hanger along with two spits, but none of them flew. Here just a few pictures from a dull weather day.

Peter
Accept that had the jetwash caused an injury it would not have been funny. I did say amusing, which I think is different to funny. The pilot was on his first solo (no excuse I know). I assume that was you with the pregnent lady? Once the issue of the jetwash became apparent, the majority of those present moved away. My comment about the kids, was that they stayed in place without any effort to move. I appologise if that offended you.
Darren, No need to appologise, any one stupid enough to stand behind a running jet engine and to take their kids with them aswell should not complain, if anyone has looked at the photo in detail you will notice that their is clear tarmac in front of the jet, so, the jet is going to move off sometime, is it not. I suppose these jet wash people stand on the outside of bends on a rally stage aswell and when the marshalls move them along, they moan at the marshalls, I have seen this happen with babies in push chairs being hit by flying stones, doh!

Congratulations Peter! 🙂
Merlin70…sounds like you need to place an order for a nice vindaloo with extra chilli 😉
Becka
That would suit me fine, but Mrs Merlin70 doesn’t go hotter than a madras. Something to do with what a T33 doesn’t have………afterburn 😀

Good luck to you and Mrs P38.
My wife is a week overdue. Three curries and some circuits and bumps has put a smile on my face, but all that Mrs Merlin70 got was indigestion. It is hard work being an expectant dad, but you know what they say, if at first you don’t succeed try try again…. Honey I’m home! :diablo:
I think we’ll give a miss on the T33 jetblast though.

Thanks for all of your helpful suggestions guys. Tried them all (except for a ride in a Sopwith Pup!)
The Really Hot Curry won the day, and Baby Isobel was born today at 12:36pm. Baby and Mother doing well, Father heading to the Pub!!!!!!!!!
Belated congratulations to you all!

I cannot beleive the moans and groans, people who go to watch planes, always want to get close to them and the action and feel the force they have to offer and when they get to close they do nothing but winge, when they get blown over it all adds to the excitement….. all you pilots keep yer throttles straight through the gate

I understand that a good method to stimulate the birth is to have sex! This is what a relative did in this situation. Something to do with the hormones in semen. The morning after she had the baby (this was recommended by the midwife).
Good luck!
But not in the public enclosure at Duxford!!! lol

Thanks Last Lightning. I’ve drank loads of guiness and eaten loads of crisps… but I can’t quite see how that is supposed to help the wife out!!!! .

We went to DX on Friday to see if the sound of Merlins would persuade the baby to come out. As the close proximity to a T33 opening up didn’t have that effect then i don’t know what will!!!!! Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved ;)[/QUOTE]
A really hot curry & a really HOT night is what the midwives i know highly recommend!!

Peter
A good curry usually does the trick (so I am told).
Good luck to you both.

I’m terribly sorry Darren, i really didn’t mean to make you think that you had offended me in any way. 🙂 I just wanted to clarify the situation.
I’m sure that the pilot won’t make the same error of judgement again. They are usually a very safe bunch of guys that operate at Duxford. You are right it was me with the pregnant lady, who is currently 1 week overdue! The pilot opening up the throttle so far caught us completely by surprise – it was a hell of a blast, we made the snap decision that we had more of a chance of staying vertical if we stood our ground than if we tried to waddle away 😮 .

Thanks Peter,
Good Luck with the birth!
