I’d suggest two possible reasons you might have that altitude (assuming you recorded it correctly!) are that either the aircraft were performing particularly well due to atmospheric phenomenon (being particularly cold would make the air more dense, giving the engine more power and the wings more lift). In cold weather, the altimeter would also read high, due to the difference between local conditions and the standard atmosphere.
