Does anyone have a recommendation for a good book on the Amiens Prison Raid of Feb 1944?
Thanks

Dave
Thanks and good to see you on the board, nice tip on the French film about the raid, now I seem to recall seeing a write up in FLYPAST on this . Will hope someone knows the title and will post it here. Started to work on your tapes….will get them to you as soon as possible. Enjoyed reading your link to Cambridge NZ ! Hope all is well with you and family !

There was of course a film made about the raid in the late 1940’s in France. I don’t know the title. Ity is mentioned in Flypast around about the 50th Anniversary of the event. Not sure if you see muchj of the Typhoons and Mossies in it.
I’m interestede to know if the books mentioned here have anything about Richard Sampson, who was killed on the raid. He came from my home town of Cambridge. My website page on him is here

Hello
You are right Mike J.But it’s his first book ”rendez-vous with fate ”.R Lallemant wrote two others ”Rendez-vous” (one day’s and with destiny) .Chapter over Amiens is in the third and his book is too new for having been translated .
Cheers

Thanks men for the info ( also any ladies if they posted here as well) on books about this event in Feb of 1944. It’s a story of daring bravery and would be a great film. I do remember the display they had in the bottom of The Imperial War Museum, the actual film of the attack displayed on a screen as you rode in a similator. Will get my hands on a copy of the book. Thanks again from BlueNoser352!
PS
Of course the film I would make would only have actors from the countries involved in the actual attack…no disrepect of any actors in my country inteneded. That should keep everybody happen and stick to true historical facts would be nice as well.(Yes.U-571 lesson here)

Thanks Robbo for the link and title to the book, man would I love to see a great director like Speilberg take on a project like this ( with no american actors allowed), its got to be one of the bravest act undertaken by the resistance & RAF during the war! By the way..what kind of copit are you sitting in when this photo was taken? Lancaster ??????
