Gentlemen, A Round of Applause for Kev Please.

I do believe that Mr. 35 has today joined the esteemed ranks of those who have had their names imprinted on the old literature.

Well done young man.

I’m half way through my copy, and I have to say that it’s beautifully written. I don’t get a lot of time these days to just sit and read, but on the few occasions when I’ve sat down with the intention of snatching ten minutes with the book, those ten minutes have turned into twenty, thirty, fourty… I find that’s always a good indicator of the ‘once you pick it up you can’t put it back down again’ factor.

A good friend of mine has also received a copy, but as it’s a birthday pressie she dunt know wot it is until tomorrow… 😉

Once again, congratulations Kev. The boy done good. 😀

Congratulations. Writing a book, about any subject- but a history in particular- is a difficult, daunting task. To have completed it and to feel good; satsified with it- is commendable.

I hope your signing event went well; and that sales are good.

🙂
Erin

Thanks to Snapper, I have my copy as I couldn’t get to the day itself. I haven’t yet had time to pick it up, but am eager to do so. I might sit in the garden this weekend and read it if the weather holds. Decent book, decent weather and a pint of Spitfire …… can’t wait!

Not too sure about all these mutterings regarding banked curves and test courses.

Regards,

kev35

In the early days of motoring ‘hills’ provided quite a challenge to the cars of the day.

So, they constructed at Brooklands a ‘Test Hill’ a steep and steepening straight track that cars were measured on, first for the distance they could actually climb before failing, later for the time within which they could cover the entire hill.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to beat the ‘upwards’ record, but ‘downwards’

Ok, most of you on here now I’m just a sentimental old fool, but today, and the last few weeks really have all been a bit draining for me emotionally. I was lucky enough to be given the Honour of producing “Wise Without Eyes” and it has been a privelege. I have written and spoken to a number of veterans some of whose stories have reduced me to tears, but not always through sadness. They have given me the privelege of sharing their experience. I only hope I have not let them down.

So, it is all systems go. I thank everyone for their kind support but I have to mention two people in particular, and that is Robbo and Snapper.

My late Mother, who died five years ago, once told me that my dream would one day come true…..

It has.

I look forward to seeing anyone interested at the signing which takes place at 2pm on the 15th April, the 89th Anniversary of the formation of the Squadron, at Brooklands.

I am really looking forward to the event…….

Not too sure about all these mutterings regarding banked curves and test courses.

Regards,

kev35

It’s a damn good thing there’s no clique here – otherwise some of us wouldn’t have a clue what this is all about

7.45 seconds up a test hill in a four gun turret?

Blimey, they don’t breed ’em like that any more!

The Brooklands website says that RGJ Nash set a record of 7.45 seconds for the Test Hill course in 1932 in a Frazer Nash.

I think we can do a bit better than that.

Yes, but that was going up. Kev’s all set for the downhill record. He should smash the 5 second barrier…

…and a few other things. 😮

Kev, Snapper, and banked corners…?

Gents, I think we could be on for a land speed record attempt here…
