Gents,
Two posts in one evening, hoping for further success.
Trying to locate information on an American airgunner serving with the RCAF killed with No.218 (B) Squadron, RAF Bomber Command.
The man in question, former Flight Sergeant Desmond Michael De Silva, DFM R/95750 RCAF. Killed bombing Berlin August 23/24th 1943. CWGC states that Desmond was 23 year-old from Flushing New York.
Can anyone direct me to a site or individual who can help with details on this airman who was sadly killed while screened and awaiting posting after completion of his first tour of operations.
Regards

RAF Bomber Command Losses 1943 has him on board 623Sqn Stirling III EH925, IC-C.
623Sqn was apparently formed from 218Sqn on 10/8/43 – this was its first loss of eleven in its three month life span – and the crew appears to have been made up from scratch. All on board died when the aircraft was shot down by a nightfighter 5km south of Zossen, and are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
