Southend Boeing 720 prototype moving?+T2@WFD

Mornin’ all

According to a popular monthly magazine, HZ-123 is interesting qantas. It also said the a/c was due in the hangar at the end of Jan. Any one have any news?

In other news it was good to see an old Navy Jetstream T2 yesterday at Wfd!!

Cheers.

Does anyone know when she was last flown…late 90’s perhaps?

And is she fitted with a VIP interior or pax seating?

I see qantas have made more progress on the aircraft recently. Let’s hope it all comes to fruition.

It will be very good news if this actually happens.
One small point, this is a 707 not a 720, it was the first 707-138 delivered to QANTAS. In the end no other airlines ordered the short fuselage variant.

I had also heard that Qantas are interested in HZ123. It has not flown for several years and obviously needs plenty of work. I had heard that it is to be looked at by the maintenance company at Southend to see if it is a viable option. It is low priority and there is so much other work for other customers that it is at the back of the queue to be fitted in when time and space might be available.

If anybody else knows differently please correct me.

It was built in 1959 and is number 29 of the production line. Surely it must be the oldest one around in potentially airworthy condition.
