Hi,
I seem to have some problems viewing attached pictures. Because I do not see them any more, I have to leftclick them first. Am I the only one having this problem? Maybe this is a “service” for our “slower” forum mebers???

I totally agree.

I was referering to the 65,000 images we have stored in our database Manonthefence if you have 10 images at 100K each and 1000 people look at the thread that is a large chunk of bandwidth.
I know you can right click or use tabbed browsing in FF but I think it would be easier if it happened automatically.

Cheers Webbie
In order to open the thumbnails in a different window merely right click and open in a new window, or better still use a browser like Firefox which can be set to tabbed browsing so the pictures open in another tab.
Try this thread
Use of IMG tags shouldnt increase your bandwidth as the images are being displayed from my ISP so if anything it will affect my usage stats not yours.

With the images being displayed as links can you please tell me which thread so I can go and have a look.
Sorry about the lack of annoucement there are several reasons for the change one of them is to give the dial-up users a bit of a break with the heavy image threads. However the most important one is bandwidth reduction for ourselves, having all the images being displayed is very intense on our bandwidth and it costs alot in terms of bandwidth charges, hopefully this should improve matter for us at Key.
I will also look into how to get the thumbnails to open up in a seperate window rather than the same window as the thread

It’s a good start, a really good start – just needs finishing – the thumbnails are a good size (not those tiny wee avatar sized thumbs) but the full size image needs to open in a new window, then you can move on to the next one and so on. Otherwise this is going to get really tedious when Flood’s “season” gets under way.

As I said before, this doesnt apply to pictures hosted by yourselves and attached using the image tags. So while its a nice thought it wont work for all images posted.
And I agree with Robbo, a little bit of communication would have been nice.

Looks like they have all turned into thumbnails now. I doubt if it can be implemented, but I wouldn’t mind an having an option in the user CP where you can select how you want to view attachments, i.e. full size, thumbnails or links. Also it might be better to have the full size images (either from link of thumbnail) open in a different window.
Just my 2 cents….
I’ll back that up. Of course, the thumbnails idea is great for users who have a slow internet connection. But others (like me) might prefer the view of the images like it used to be. Now, it will take a lot more effort for me to take a look at each picture. 😮

Must be a webmaster thing. I could see the images this morning!

Most images still seem to appear as simple links, such as in the Twin Pin thread.

Thank-you for the explanation. The concept of thumbnails to open is a good idea.

What season?
When the images really start getting posted in anger, when the shows really begin, when all those newly purchased digital cameras get their first outing…;)
That season?

Not a bad idea IMHO, but it wont work for images linked from a posters webspace.

The webmaster has utilised an option to show images as thumbnails which you may open up (or not) as you wish. Hopefully this might help the dial-up users when faced with dozens of mega-sized images, in one thread, when the season starts.

Methinks Webby has been playing, its now showing a thumbnail which you can click on to show the full size image. I dont mind this or the full size image but I dont like just having the link.

Same here, but if you click on the photo or link then the image is shown larger in a new window.

same here – those uploaded directly here don’t open unless I click them; those remote-linked from photobuckets show.
It’s the uploading tool
