Spitfire XIV query

This is slightly connected to my novel/BCATP thread from earlier.

I know the Spitfire XIV entered service with 610 Squadron in January 1944, and I know they were involved in the invasion of France, but for the life of me I cannot find, nor have ever seen, a MkXIV in full invasions stripes around 6 June 1944!!

I know the XIX did wear them as I’ve seen period photos (and also one of the BBMF Spit XIXs was painted as such recently). So, can someone come up with a photo?

Gracias mucho por adelantado

On the theme of Spitfire colours, here is a picture of OO-ARF, post BoB film, wearing an ‘unusual’ colour scheme, which seems to have been applied with a thick felt-pen.

Looks like one of my earlier efforts! :p

Ouch

This was taken when the a/c passed through the hands of Bill Fisher ( F+H Aircraft )for eventual ownership by Cliff Robertson.

Not a BoB film participator this one.

MK923 still in the partial livery of the ‘Longest Day’ film – minus codes and D-Day stripes.

I think the film ‘The Train’ fits in here somewhere.

This would be a Biggin Hill some time toward the end of 1963.

BBMF’s PM631 was painted up in the markings of a D-Day Mk.XIV in the 1980’s. Go down to the Mk.XIX section on this page and you’ll find a piccy of her.

Hope this helps 🙂
