It's plane rotten…XL391 saga rumbles on…

Hmm well, according to th’Advertiser, the saga of poor old XL391 looks set to continue for a little while longer.

In a nutshell, the new owner is now demanding his money back, saying the plane is rotten and only the nose is worth saving. It seems as though he is also refusing to pay the £1k per week storage being levied by the former owner, Mr Bateson. “I have instructed my solicitors to fight this all the way.”

…Mr Bateson says “Mr Ollerenshaw is getting himself into a very serious position”

…but on a more positive note, Tameside Council has granted planning permission for XL391 to be installed at the rear of the pub! Whether this just applies to the nose section only is not clear from the article, but I would think this is the likeliest interpretation as it seems certain that the landlord now has no intention of trying to save the whole airframe.

Watch this space….

As I said about 2 weeks ago the whole XL391 situation has now become a farce.

It’s gonna be interesting to see what the coming weeks bring.

And is “Mr Ollerenshaw” the most Northern name ever? 😀

No, that’s “Willy Eckaslike” 🙂

Legally, we’re probably best to keep our thoughts to ourselves…

What a mess. Sadly I have no sympathy for Mr Ollerenshaw. A simple look at the airframe up close before clicking “bid” would have solved an awful lot of bother, and saved him an awful lot of money.

And is “Mr Ollerenshaw” the most Northern name ever? 😀

Do we know who the “second” bidder was? The cynic in me has an idea…

Also as it was on ebay this suggests that a second person helped to bid the price up and dropped out. So we may have 2 people that wanted to buy a Vulcan!!

Would you not think that he would have gone down and had a thorough look at the aircraft before he bid??????

I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole episode wasn’t a stunt of some sort.
There’s no such thing as bad publicity.
These two have kept their names in the paper now for how many months?
Cynic, me?
