Just caught the end of a film on BBC2 called Emergency; a fairly unbelieveable plot revolving around a young girl who needs a blood transfusion but – and heres the twist – the only people with her blood group seem to consist of a dodgy bunch all unwilling or unaware that this is the reason the police are chasing them, people like a prisoner on death row, a football player about to play an important game, or a scientist on the run because he assumed the police had found out he was passing secrets to the Russians… Suspend your disbelief, please.
Anyway, the tale has its grand finale in a warehouse at an airfield (called Northfield, I think) where the scientist was about to be whisked off by aeroplane behind the iron curtain; the man from Scotland Yard chases him in and nearly loses him amongst the content – piles of carpet rolls and several tidy-looking Meteor noses…! There are other noses under tarps too, but the camera never really lingers and the action doesn’t get close enough. Did I mention that the film was made in 1962?
As you would expect the scientist doesn’t appear to get asked if he minds having a transfusion so the question of whether he was tortured for his permission never arises…;) But the girl survives – hey, its a 1960s British film, would you expect anything less? – and they all enjoy a cup of tea in the end!
Where was it filmed?

I caught the end of it and wondered if maybe it was filmed at Hendon, the coupled Belfast truss hangars being a clue?

That is the one – doesn’t explain the nose jobs!
