Top surface grey on PL344 looks almost identical to PT462’s grey which was painted in the US – errr, why do they do it?
It’s a grey area. 🙂

Thanks for the feedback guys. We try to fly everyday…and I mean everyday 🙂 Every once in awhile we have something special like having a Spit and Mustang fly chase. I have shot nearly 7000 pics in three years. We tour the US 11 months a year, 7 days a week…great things like this happen often. Tom Blair is one of the nicest individuals in the warbird movement and spares no expense on his machines. He was the reason we have the pictures and the unique day in Kissimmee. We really owe a debt of gratitude to those that choose to preserve the airframes for future generations. I am going to post photos all year…

Seems a shame that Y2-P would have to wear these new markings. If one could appreciate the history of Y2-P and one of the many pilots that flew it then one might have taken the trouble to preserve it. When you own a bunch of warbirds I guess you can do with them whatever you want. At least you could have got the paint job correct. Y2-P was shot down on July 13, 1944 and F/O Arnold Roseland was killed. He was a vetern of 442 Squadron and also served in the Aleutian campaign flying Kittyhawks

Waouh ! Great, great pictures, thanks a lot for sharing !
My question: do you guys always go and fly warbirds so easily ? It looks so amasing to me… 😮

Spitfire PL344
Yes ‘transposed’ would be a better word. An old error reproduced I suggest.
Mark V,
It is only a code change from Y2-P to T-LB/TL-B, the owner Tom Blair’s initials, otherwise it appears that is still the original basic camouflage applied in the UK.
Great shots Jim.

OK – who reversed the colours on the Spitfire?
Transposed the two greys rather than reversed but one for Personal Plane Services, in the UK, I would suggest.

Good pics.
I also noticed PL344’s “different” colours. Have we not discussed them on here before?

Is this another “american” spitfire paint scheme then?
