What could we create Today?

Ok, so here’s a hypothetical situation:

The jet engine never amounted to much, for one reason or another…while it COULD power planes up to speeds of around 500 miles an hour or so, it just never became as efficient as it might have been, so a lot more designs have centered around building the most powerful propeller driven planes in the world, a continuation of the philosophy of World War Two, only 65 years on now….so what do they look like? What kinds of engines power these planes? Do they have swept wings and R-4360 engines or something better? Turboprop engines? Think about it….65 years after WWII has ended, what would a propeller driven fighter look like? Maybe you folks can come up with some sketches or computer generated likenesses of today’s modern day Prop fighters that descended down through the years from the Mustangs, Bearcats, Wyverns and Sea Furies of yesteryear….let’s see what we come up with…!
