As an aside a few years ago a farm labourer reluctantly confirmed that the engine and machine guns were still in situ.. makes you wonder if the whole front end was left in the ground. Also as it was supposedly shot down by friendly AA was it a very early Spit that was not recognised as a new type in service.?
