Good Luck, Vulcan XL391 at Blackpool a thank you

Sorry to start another thread on this BUT !

I would just like to take my hat off to the guy who has purchased this Vulcan, I really find it hard to see why some people on here are taking the we we out of his venture and he is determination to see this through from what I can make out.

I really hope all works out well, she will be in the public eye for a much longer time than it would being left to the other alternatives which are very few indeed.

Why ?

What has happened to warrant this statement ?

VULCAN XL391

I don’t really want to go
But they left me here too long
When they returned me from ascension
They left me here too long

I had the role to retaliate
With a cargo of Yellow Sun
So carefully named
And the ball of flames I can bring
Is described as beautiful
Yes, the testers described it as beautiful

If they sent me beyond iron
I would have stayed
For they swayed briefly
When they said
We cannot refuel you
And anyway
Would I want them , really?
All burned like that.

But stuck here in anticipation
Caged in with this rusting wire
Already giving way
I poke my bottlenosed cone
Just over the wire
As though an animal
Sniffing a vacant loving hand
Hoping for a reprieve

And people come with lenses
stemming tears
The enthusiasts
Of cold war junk.
others want rid
with burning torches
The apathy for history
Oblivious with cutting hands

I don’t really want to go
I was so sophisticated
powerful, a god of olympus
But like all the empires
That end in ashes
I feel, so will mine.
Just one more sunset
I am vulcan XL319

I don’t think I’ve “taken the wee wee” out of his venture and I wish him luck…

It’s just that, having worked for the Local Authority in question for a very long time, I cannot see them granting planning permission (and a lease of land), to allow him to display the Vulcan in one piece behind his pub.

I think these two crucial factors alone will decide the fate of the airframe, unless a last minute benefactor turns up with an offer to “host” the Vulcan.

I think that would probably have to involve another change of ownership since the publican appears to have bought the Vulcan solely as an attraction for his pub, and if he cannot achieve that aim, his interest may well diminish?

This is my take on the situation, viewed from a distance of approx. 1/2 mile from the Snipe Inn, Dukinfield!
