Does anyone know why the rare Polikarpov fighters that were ressurected and restored by the Alpine Fighter Collection have been so slow to sell? I’d have thought that warbirds owners would have been very keen to snap up such interesting fighters. I know of Paul Allen buying one or two, but the others seem to be still for sale.
When the project was begun I was told by an AFC insider that the OFMC in on the restoration mission and was to get one of each type at the end. As far as I know this has not happened. Does anyone know if there was really an intention for the OFMC to take examples to the UK?
Were they prevented by the same CAA rules that has seen the LA-9 and P40 return to NZ?

Also they are apparantly tricky little buggers to fly… and especially land.
