More research reveals that flight was 18th of March 1910 at Digger’s Rest in Victoria, Australia. And his name was actually Erik Weisz when born, then changed to Ehrich Weiss

Eric Weiss, well known as the professional American escapologist Harry Houdini came over to Australia for 3 months in February 1910 to demonstrate his Voisin aeroplane. He successfully flew in front of many witnesses one day after Custance (which see)to claim a ‘First’. Very soon afterwards he departed these shores forever and sold the plane in the U.S.A.
