I think we can see where the inspiration for this project came from….

And 100% free of BMW … :diablo:
Can’t think where they’re gonna put the guns or rockets – or the oil slick thingy 😉

With an estimated top speed of 400mph, according to the drawing, this is going to be one seriously uncompetative Reno racer, when compared with the current state-of-the-art racers such as Dago Red, Rare Bear, Strega and Seprember Fury. Makes you wonder why they bothered.
It looks like it would be in the Formula One races doing just over 200kts, rather than the unlimited doing 450-500kts.

This is no more than a fancy test bed for overhauled engines – testing two at the same time is more cost effective 😀

Noooo, it’s not that! It’s the new baddy’s plane from the next James Bond film! 😀

I cant tell you much about it really – just something I stumbled upon. It really is a Reno racer (according to the caption anyway), but an unfinished one, rather than historic – hence my “(O/T)” in the title. Don t worry – its not going to be a replica! And those are triple rotor, tubocharged wankel motors, definitely not Lycomings! Here is the three view anyway.

Actually – I just saw the date on the plans – maybe it is historic after all!!

is that not the original form of “mach Buster” now owned and almost completed by David Rose. If so, then yes it will fly, and probably quite effectively as well, for what it is designed to do, race at Reno. There is a web site with new pictures of it almost completed, and guess what, based on the length of time this project has been around it`s Historic! well deserves a spot on this forum.

It certainly does look Cessna O-2/337 based, with what looks like Lycoming Flat-6’s.
Depends on the end result I guess…..

I dunno, but I don’t fancy flying it!
Give it to r.weaver, though, and I’m sure he’ll give us a show…! 😀
By: turbo_NZ - 27th December 2004 at 11:43
All joking aside, is it really a Reno racer ?
What is it and is it historic ?

Hmmm. That’s one serious pencil sharpener.
Reminiscent of the Push-me-Pull-you (spelling?) out of “Dr. Doolittle”.

It’ll never fly.
Insufficient wing area.
Will it be at Legends?? 😀 😀 😀
By: italian harvard - 26th December 2004 at 21:50
well maybe it might work as lawnmower… oh no wait, that’s a Star Wars Speeder 😀
Dont take it too seriously DazDaMan, u must admit that there is no room in this forum for that “thing”. We’d better ask the mods to open a section called “aviation junk” or “aviation provocation”..
