Damn – that Boeing sailed through the Kostverlorenvaart. I used to live there on a fourth-floor apartment. Would have loved to see that.

Turns out I was mad enough to go and see the transport last night, although working is a bit of a struggle now 😎
Quality of the photos may be a bit off on some shots (I’ve only got a smallish Canon), but they give an impression.
1. The tail section moving into the small lock which is the entrance to the Amsterdam canals.
2. Expectations are high on the bridge 😉
3. The fuselage clearing the railway and highway bridges, traffic was brought to a standstill on the A10 ringway for this event.
4. The fuselage entering the lock.
5 and 6. Nice coloured lights to add some atmosphere.
7. Aircraft systems were powered by a GPU on the barge so the fuselage wasn’t completely dark.
8. Some silly sod apparently managed to drop a camera in the water! Wasn’t retrieved obviously.
9 and 10. Slowly cruising through the center of Amsterdam (Kostverlorenvaart).

And Jochen, from spring on, it will be possible to make passenger flights in the F27. By the way, I bought my “new” one, but only shot the F27 with it. For the night shots it was too complicate (I only bought it tuesday night), so they are all 10D on 800 iso.
Great News Roger. My father is definetly going to be interested to make a flight in this plane. It would be a good birthdaypresent for next year. 🙂

Should have checked the Aviodrome website straight away of course! Thanks for the update Roger!
I may be foolish enough to go and have a look tonight, depends on the weather and whether I can be bothered by that time though! 😀

Hi Roger,
I just saw it on the six o’clock news. So they finally pulled it off. It’s getting crowded at Lelystad.
Cheers

Tonight it passes through (the) Amsterdam (canals) and I guess it takes a nightstop behind the Central Station ( which might be interested to take pics with all those junks, prostitutes and other “interesting” persons around. Thought of gong there but don’t want to take the risk. At the Aviodrome site the entire route can be seen.

And yes, this one received its SUD by Boeing after many years of operating with the classic UD.

Is this one of the original KLM 747’s that went back to Boeing for the extended upper desk mod or a newer series 300?
Cracking photos.
Philip if they had tried that with the Beverley then it would have fallen to bits as it was rotten. In any case arent you at least 20 years to late in venting your spleen?

Wonderful pics Roger! Do you have any idea what the routing is and/or where she is now? I wouldn’t mind getting a look at the convoy somewhere during the transport.

It left via the old Fokker factory, which is now a Business Park, and that’s what the sign said. By the way, earlier that day, the first production f27, and the oldest one still flying arrived at lelystad. Everybody was at the 747, so this arrival went fully unnoticed. It will be overhauled and be operated out of the Aviodrome next year. Here it is yesterday. BW Roger

If they can do it – why couldn’t the RAF Museum (Beverley)????
