Hi!
Please don’t think that I am just coming on here with another of those stories of undiscovered aircraft that people come up with from time to time. I just wanted to reflect what was told to me this weekend in good faith…
I have just come back to see relatives in Arklow, co Wicklow, Ireland and I was talking to my (very credible) cousin who is a fully experienced and qualified diver. We were talking about a U Boat that he was looking for just off Arklow on a sandbank and I asked him whether there was any aircraft off the coast. He said no, but did say that there was in fact “a large RAF aircraft in the upper lake, high up in Glenda Lough”.
He stated that he has not dove onto it yet because of the altitude and he will need to do a lot of calculations (re air mixture) due to the possible depth and combined altitude of the lake. He said it would be too dangerous just to dive there without doing this. The aircraft type is unknown but he says that it is known to only a few people that it is there.
Does anyone know anything about an aicraft that may have ditched in this area at any time? Type, dates e.t.c? I’m sure it’s very unlikely that there would be no record of it anywhere???
Paul.

Can’t add anything to your query on the aircraft but the lake is actually spelled Glendalough (all one word). It is am Anglicisation of Gleann Da Lach – the Glen of the Two Lakes.
