Hello chaps.
I was checking Spitfire : The History to see wether IXs had b wings or not. As far as I could see they did have b wings on IXs as MH434 show.
Can anyone tell me more about the subject? :confused:

Well, it’s not the same one, but I trawled it out anyway!
I think you can just see the four “gun ports” in the leading edge of the port wing. Whether they were put there by accident or by design, who can tell?

As a side note, I just had a quick read of the thread and saw that the “Universal” wing could have carried the four Brownings – two in the “normal” position, and two where the cannon would be.
It’s interesting as I have a photo from a calendar of the CAF’s Spitfire IX MK297, minus cannons, but with machine-gun ports in exactly those positions!!
If anyone’s interested, I’ll trawl it out.
