After having my appetite whetted for the Airfix Bristol Superfreighter on a thread on here a couple of weeks back I managed to get hold of one for the princely sum of £7 on E-bay this week! Thoroughly recommed that as a way of getting hold of those discontinued or hard to find kits. I shall post a pic of the finished article when its done… 🙂

eBay is also the Aviation Art collector’s and seller’s friend 🙂
There’s quite an active trade in all kinds of aviation art on eBay. For the collector or casual enthusiast, you can get some real good bargains there, as well as some rare prints, both old and not-so-old.
For the seller, both private individuals and dealers (and even aviation artists), eBay offers a chance to sell excess inventory. Some prints are even bid up to very high prices.
A few days ago, a small black and white companion print – Tank Busters by Robert Taylor – was auctioned off for US$355. Normally, a full-sized Robert Taylor colour print would retail at US$295. (btw, I have this print, number 1/50 😀 )

I have an unbuilt Tamiya DH Mosquito FBMK.VI/NF MK.II 1/48th sitting here to do when I finally get to sit down in a house/flat with enough room for me for a while.
So much to do, so little room to do it in – and so little time right now too.
🙁

I bought a long sought-after Matchbox 1/32 Spitfire F24 from E-bay. It’s waiting in the wings to be done….
….sought after, mmmm, interesting! I’m sure I have an unbuilt Hasegawa mark V sitting in the loft as well! 😉

factory models
I recently bought a factory model of an Armstrong Whitworth Argosy.
A plaque on the stand says it was given by the airframe maker to the Paris office of the US FAA (not the Fleet Air Arm…the other FAA) which is how it came to America.
Any Argosy fans out there? I was the only one to bid on it and bought if for not a lot of money, but I wouldn’t mind it going to a good UK home.

Kingkit is on eBay via an alias……..I buy stuff from him through eBay for less than his own site!
I won’t spoil the game by giving his other name away, might not get any more bargains!
Just bought an Airfix Chipmunk on eBay this evening, two quid!

I’ve been overtaken by technology. I wrote a database years ago to keep track of my kit stash. Unfortunately, I wrote it in dBase III+ and I can’t remember how to use it. 🙁
Think I’ve got a Dominie.

King Kit is OK. He’s been around years. He’s based near Cosford but always used to have a stall at OW shows.

You’re right about it being seriously addictive…started using the site this year, firstly buying and more recently selling; total spend so far about £400, total income ……about £50! (Woops… 😮 ) Favourites seem to be out of production civil aircraft, the old Airfix Islander is good for about £26 at the moment, a Jetstream around £16, and a tenner for the 125/Dominie; so if you’ve got one…..get selling!

Hi folks – I am a regular ebay user and was able to add many OOP books to my collection over the years, plus photos, negatives, slides, etc.
As ex-modeller, I have to tell you that during the current moving of my appartment, I looked through some cardboard-boxes containing old kits – didn’t know what I still had and since I stopped building models about 15 years ago, there probably are some treasures: I am talking about Frog, Novo, Airfix, Matchbox, Heller, Monogram, Hasegawa, Williams, Italaeri 1/72, plus some assorted 1/48 kits, for example two Tamiya Lancasters….. they all look for a new home/owner.
Since this board doen’t have a buy/sell/trade category, and I don’t intend to sell through ebay, please PM me with your interests – maybe I have something you look for.
Kind regards and best wishes for the weekend (it’s starting to snow here in Switzerland).

Hi,
I bought a Junkers G-38 kit from the German E-bay. When it arrived lo and behold there were two kits inside the one box. 😀
Now that’s what I call a bargain.

I’ve got a load of models and mags I intend to sell after Christmas, when the nights are still long and wet and best enjoyed in by the central heating.
Hell thats put me in the mood to start and make some myself.

So be careful it’s addictive.
Got any Putnams you want to sell-anyone!!! 🙂 🙂 😉 😉 🙂 🙂
