Book launches at Duxford Saturday 20th November

Hello guys and gals 🙂

You may or may not already be aware that there will be two book launches at Duxford this coming Saturday.

The first launch is of ‘Tail End Charlies – The Last Battles of the Bomber War 1944-45’, written by Gulf War veteran, John Nichol, and Tony Rennell, and tells the stories of the crews of RAF Bomber Command during the last two years of the Second World War. There are nearly 40 Bomber Command veterans expected to be present at the launch, many of whom feature in the book, and they will be happy to sign copies of the book, along with the authors.

The second launch is of ‘Lockheed Blackbird: Beyond the Secret Missions’ by Paul Crickmore. This year sees the 40th anniversary of the Blackbird’s first flight, and the gentleman at the controls for that groundbreaking flight, Bob Gilliland, will be making the journey to Duxford on Saturday from his home in the United States to meet the public at Duxford and to chat about his experiences. There will be a short presentation and question and answers sessions from both Paul Crickmore and Bob Gilliland, and there will be an opportunity to have your copy of ‘Lockheed Blackbird: Beyond the Secret Missions’ signed by both Bob and Paul.

The programme of events for the day is as follows:

10.00 am Museum opens

10.30 am Bob Gilliland arrives – met by a US Air Force Guard of Honour from RAF Mildenhall

11.00 am Signing session for Tail-End Charlies begins

1.00 pm Presentation/Q&A with Paul Crickmore, author of Lockheed Blackbird: Beyond the Secret Missions

1.45 pm Presentation/Q&A with Bob Gilliland, Lockheed Chief Test Pilot and the first man ever to fly the SR-71 Blackbird

2.30 pm Signing session with Paul Crickmore and Bob Gilliland

4.00 pm Museum closes

I hope this will interest some of you and hope to see some of you there 🙂

Thanks for that Becka, sadly I won’t be able to make it as unfortunately I am having to work for the whole weekend.

I hope it all goes well. 🙂
