Does anybody here know the approximate cost of a Spitfire or Hurricane replica ?
…….And a link to a relevant website ?

Thanks for the info guys !
The replica is not for me personally, but would be for the Irish Air Corps museum collection.
Cheers.

You could always build your own. I’m only building the cockpit section, frame 5 to 13.

I can’t think of the name of the company, but several full-scale Hurricane replicas were made for the Kent Battle of Britain Museum recently – VERY realistic! π

What I have in mind is a display-only Spitfire replica (for museum display).
Are Hurricane replicas available ?

Panther – it depends what kind of replica you’re looking for. Certain scaled down ones have been built, but mostly as one-offs, and it’s no good asking about plans-built ones (around 75%) because they’re ALL different!!
Supermarine’s Spitfire Mk26 (not the ACTUAL Supermarine, mind) costs about Β£38,000 for the kit (sans engine, instruments etc), BUT if you’re talking about a full-sized flying replica like the MJ100 featured elsewhere recently, you’re talking a bit less than $250,000 all told.
A mate of mine from New Zealand is actually going to have a MkIX built for him by a company in the States – cost around $350,000.

Thanks guys.
I heard the figure of stgΒ£20,000 mentioned before alright.
I didn’t know that flying replicas were available ?
What kind of cost are we looking at in that case ?

Nah, Hasegawa do ’em cheaper than that!
On the subject of plastic models, a few years ago I bought a 1960s Airfix model – a collector’s items still in it’s original packaging and in mint condition. The model was a Bristol Bulldog.
A few weeks later I visited Duxford and their museum shop – only to find the same model in modern packaging, which was more expensive that the collector’s item.

If its a static replica, you will be looking at around Β£20,000.
Septic.
