46 squadron, Stapleford

Hurricane V6804, P/O W.B. Pattullo killed, crashed into house in Woodstock Avenue, Romford, 12.07 hrs, following routine patrol, cause unknown. P/O Pattullo was taken from the wreckage, and admitted to Oldchurch Hospital, but died the next day.

79 squadron, Pembrey

Hurricane N2708, P/O S Piatkowski killed, crashed near Carew Cheriton after routine patrol, cause unknown.

302 squadron, Northolt

Hurricane V7593, F/L F Jastrzebski killed, failed to return from patrol over the Channel, last seen gliding towards the enemy coast, 10.50 hrs.

501 squadron, Kenley

Hurricane P2903, P/O V Goth killed, mid-air collision another 501 sqn aircraft during combat with Bf109s over Tenterden, crashed in orchard at Manor Farm, Staplehurst, 15.25 hrs.

601 squadron, Exeter

Hurricane V6917, Sgt L.D. May missing, mid-air collision with P3709 below, during section training flight, and crashed in sea off Exmouth, 15.00 hrs.

Hurricane P3709, Sgt F Mills-Smith missing, mid-air collision with V6917 above, crashed in sea off Exmouth, 15.00 hrs.
