Kittyhawk Gun sight

Can anyone explain why this Kittyhawk has two gunsights ?.

Is one for the machine guns and the other for any bombs carried ?.

Is it standard practice to fit two sights ?

Over to you guys

Hi all

Just to resurrect this thread with a question: would an RAF Kittyhawk I from early 1942 be fitted with the US gunsight (an N-2A model, I think it was), or would it have had a British replacement fitted instead?

Regards

The ring and bead sight is an emergency back-up, provided in case the electric gunsight failed.
