Did some research…again !!!
The hard part of your quiz with the last aircraft was the fact that Curtiss and Martin produced this aircraft. Douglas only designed and made the DT-2.
Martin called it the SC-1

The whole time I was looking under Douglas. I didn’t think to look to other manufacturers for producing the same model.
Guess it’s like Vought and Goodyear for the Corsair.
Cheers

OK Guys and gals,
Big Drum Roll for your s truely I finally stump TNZ,
The Douglas is a SC-1 Scout Bomber and Torpedo Aircraft originally design by Douglas but build by build by Curtis and Martin Curtis build 8 while Martin build 75.
The airframe was based on the Douglas DT.
Hey TNZ don’t feel to bad Buddy Macon Dep. Director of the Naval Air Musuem couldn’t even get it. 😮
If you have a good look at the rear section notice the window and gun position.
So are you ready for #8 because if you think this was hard I have a doosy all set up for everyone 😮 :diablo:

Hi Dakota2,
Refer to my earlier post. It was designated an F11C.
The P6E was a USAAC derivative with an inline engine. Very different aircraft.

By: turbo_NZ - 14th October 2004 at 09:05
It originally came out with fixed undercarriage, but the US Navy were so impressed with Grumman’s layout that Curtiss installed it inot the Goshawk. It increased the top speed from 205mph to 216mph.
However the Goshawk suffered from structual weaknesses and was retired in 1934 (2 year life span).
Hope you guys found this interesting.

From what I’ve read it’s a Curtiss BF2C-1 or F11C Goshawk. 🙂
Both designations were applicable.

1st picture is Curtiss Hawk III. O.K.?
By: crazymainer - 14th October 2004 at 04:14
Nope, Nope, Nope
I reckon it’s a Curtiss AH-1 as it looks like a Hydro ski one from the photo.
AH-1 is a A-1 but with hydroski mods. The Triad was an amphibian.
mmm,…that Douglas one…..mmm…
Still workin’ on it…TNZ

Ok Dakota2…………
Ah bu88er…..you’re right…!!!
Just had another look. The rudder is too square.More of a Curtiss product.
I’ll go along with Dakota2 on the BF2C-1.
Last of the biplanes fighters for the US Navy and featured retractable undercart into the fuselage like the Grumman products.
Beautiful aircraft and would be nice to see one fly again..!!Alrighties…will keep researching the Douglas one though..
