last nite??
If only they really did find a Bf110F in that condition in a Loch..
But would they really put it back in the Loch??.. Methinks in that condition and with that rarity they would be worth about over £100,000 probably more.. the IWM would be biting their hands of to get it….
Actually I like 2 points in the story
a) When the guy speaks German to the butcher and he says ‘and he replies ahh.. the Great Escape’
b) When the desk jockey says ‘so this is your Messerschmitt 109’ and he replies actually it is a ‘Messerschmitt 110 F model, do you want me to teell you about the Daimler Benz engines’

Oops
I suppose I should have realised I was dyslexic when I went to a toga party dressed as a goat………….
It’s just that I’ve been trying to find out the background to that Bergerac me110 for about 20 years!

The programme lost it’s appeal last week when Lexi left for New Zealand.
Personally, I mourned the day the Catriona (sp.?) left – fantastic soft Scottish accent – Mmmmmm! 😉

Messerschmitt “replica”
Was this the same curious replica as they used in an early episode of Bergerac (first series) called something like “Very Late for a Funeral”
Does anybody know if this replica actually had any aeronautical background once upon a time, or was it purely a fabrication by the props department

Just to make it perfectly clear.. I KNOW IT WAS FICTION
Oh 1.. And I just know this story and the Bergarac one will start to get confused in about 20 years time….
Oh 2.. I have found a complete BfF110 in my Garden Pond, spent £100,000 bringing it up, looked it over and then decided to put it back from once it came from [as you do 🙂 ]

Yes I know.. but the point I was making was that IF the MOD recovered a near complete Bf110 from a lake/Loch in the UK would they PUT IT BACK??? once they had finished with it?
Paul
Do you need to ask?

The MoD chap said it was an Me109 to check if the pilot really was the pilot as he claimed, if he had agreed it was a ‘109 he would have given himself away as being the passenger (spy) rather than the pilot.
See also my thread on this subject.

I saw it – well bits of it – just for the reason of the ‘plane.
Couldn’t work out why they put it back… Or the fact the researcher would say it was a ‘109… Or that the simulated crash seemed more destructive than the recovered “airframe” appeared to have suffered.
