I just found some pictures on Airliners.net I thought might interest a few people. A few Buchons (including D-FEHD,now a DB-powered G-10) and also a beatiful pic of MH434 with Mark Hanna at the helm. Enjoy,I know I did…:)

once again an excellent thread bringing back happy memories of the ‘Weald….some great shows there, now sadly missed
Especially remember 2×109/BBMF formation…seem to recall BBMF clearing away northbound after their display when suddenly the ‘109s dived down from above and behind to bounce the ‘Flight resulting in one of the highlight formations of all time….
also remember Black 6’s first flight from my local airfield at Benson…quite an eventful flight that was an’all….she kicked up a divet on the grass strip r/way 24 slightly tweaking the prop, then radioed in from overhead Chalgrove unable to lower the undercarriage…needless to say this caused some heart-stopping on Spotters Corner at Benson, but thankfully she landed safely, and the rest is history….
may she have a long and happy retirement at Hendon

A few more 1990 I think.

Gone but not forgotten

Ive scanned a few slides and managed to dig up some stuff from North Weald, happy memories, great air displays.
The one with the 109 and it’s cowling open was at Duxford.

And the machine-guns on top of the cowling, which neither G-BOML or D-FEHD had.

Best indicator for G-HUNN is the ‘trademark’ Charles Church swept back aerial mast. And D-FEHD in Buchon guise had a four-bladed propellor

Daz,
Excellant have pics of all of them in the ‘Belle livery, will scan them asap.
As were on a North Weald theme I have some shots of 3 Skyraiders together, two yellow high backs and one unpainted without wings, were these ex Swedish?
Many Thanks

Lo and behold…
The line-up of “Memphis Belle” Buchons. (I think this one comes via Mike J, but cannot be certain).
By: DazDaMan - 5th October 2004 at 12:35
Yep. G-BOML wore a black double-chevron, G-HUNN wore “Black 14” and D-FEHD (as-was) wore “Black 15”.
G-HUNN later became N109GU when sold to the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Texas, and did at one point wear a variation of this same paint scheme with a yellow-black spiral spinner.
I’m sure there’s photos of all three Buchons in these markings lined up somewhere, though…

Daz,
Did G-HUUN wear the same colours as G-BOML in those pictures but coded 14? I have a Buchon in those colours with G-BOML when the latter had a yellow nose.

I suspect the guy in the JP is looking the wrong way.
Is he? :p
By: DazDaMan - 4th October 2004 at 17:34
No probs. Wouldn’t mind seeing some more of G-HUNN, though! 😉
