Buccaneer Question

Buccsociety, I’m sure you must know the answer to this question, but if not can anyone else please help?

I need some information on Buccaneer identification. Apart from the fuel tank in the bomb bay door, what other differences are there between the S2B and S2C?

Thanks all, Plazz

Hello Nigel,

I knew you would have the answers!

Just too completely clarify things for me. If you parked an S2C and an S2B next to each other, would the only external difference be the bulged bomb bay door or are there any other lumps, bumps bulges or aerials etc? (Assuming no weaponry is loaded of course).

Also if there were modified and new build airframes which category does XX894 fit into?

I’ll look forward to meeting up with you again and cheers for the offer of some reading material!

All the best, Plazz

Hi Plazz, hope you are keeping well.

The answer to question is S.2B New build and modified S.2A airframes equipped with bulged bomb bay for an extra fuel tank and able to carry Martel TV-guided anti-radar missiles; 43 built and 70 converted
S.2C Remaining Royal Navy S.2 aircraft updated to S.2B standard but without ability to carry Martel missiles.

Hope this clears things up.

PS: I have some books for you to go through when I see you next.
