Location of Hurricane Z5227 (2004)

In the mid 1990s, Minnesota antique aircraft collector/restorer Greg Herrick bought Hurricane Z5227 and kept it at the Anoka airport in a large container. I later heard (in the late 90s?) from friends that live in the area that the Hurricane had been sold and was no longer at the airport. I’d like to find out where this airframe is now and who owns her.

old thread

Greetings All,

Sorry to dredge up this old thread, but I wonder if there might have been any development since 2004 on the owner of Z5227. Some new research on this machine whilst in Russia has made it imperative that I try to find this aircraft!

Thanks for any help.

Warbirdnerd,
Any information you can find out at Anoka about the sale of Z5227 would be greatly appreciated!

Wonder if it’s the one Ray Middleton is restoring for Lone Star museum here in Ft. Collins? Probably not…but we have one here that is close to completion…

I have it on very good authority that Greg sold the Hurricane. It has been gone for a couple of years, and I believe I’ve seen the new owner listed somewhere on the WWW. It was a very complete/restoreable project.
I’m going to be up at Anoka tomorrow, I’ll see if I can find out the name of the new owner….

Thanks, Rob!

So, it looks like Greg Herrick may still own Z5227 but moved the shipping container elsewhere and the Anoka airport spotters made assumptions that she was sold.
