26th September 1940 – We remember

Thursday 26th September 1940 – the casualties

152 squadron, Warmwell.

Spitfire K9882, shot down by Bf109s in combat over the Channel off Swanage 16.50 hrs, crashed into the sea, Sgt J.M. Christie picked up dead.

238 squadron, Middle Wallop.

Hurricane P3098, shot down in combat with Bf110s over the Solent 16.30 hrs, presumed crashed in the sea, Sgt V Horsky (Czech) missing.

253 squadron, Kenley.

Hurricane V7470, failed to return from combat over the Channel 11.00 hrs, believed crashed in the sea, P/O W.M.C. Samolinski (Polish) missing.
