16th September 1940 We Remember

There were no RAF Fighter Command casualties on this day.
Despite great activity by both sides the bad weather prevented large formations of raiders reaching their targets and the defenders from making many interceptions.
By night however the blitz on London continued, 350 fire pumps and their crews were dealing with 10 major blazes.
One Spitfire was lost but the pilot was declared “safe”.
