Sorry folks, again a technical question 😮
The Spitfire Mk XIV instrument panel plan says:
Boost gauge 6A/1581 (24 Lbs) replaces 6A/1427 (20 Lbs) only when Spitfire Mod.N°1525 is incorporated.
I wonder, what was Mod.N°1525? Perhaps a version with stonger engine?
Would be great, if you could help.
Kind regards,
Herbert

That´s great! Thanks Mark!
When I think of the information:
Spitfire Mk XVIII: Powered first by the Griffon 65, then by the 2,375 hp Griffon 67, the Mk XVIII was a standardization of the evolutions appeared on the late-production Mk XIV.
So I have a confirmation, that this plan might have been used from Mk XIV upwards. So the 20Lbs boost gauge suits to Mk XIV and Mk XVIII with the Griffon 65, the 24Lbs for the planes with the griffon 67.
Cheers,
Herbert

Spitfire: Mod. numbers
Herbert
Re Modification 1625: This was carried out on Mk XVIII Spitfire to introduce the Griffon 67 Engine.
Re Modification 1525 : My understanding would be that this modification to the panel is required to fit the switches for the pilot heating.
I only have the modification index with titles. I do not have copies of the modification pack with full technical and engineering detail.

Hello Mark
Please take a look at Mod. N°1625, too.
It´s not clearly visible at that plan.
Thanks and kind regards,
Herbert

Hello Mark
Does that mean, that in that case it was a Mk XIV with the switches for the electrically heated clothing?
I wonder the connection between pilot heating and boost?
