Does anyone remember this adver/public information film from the 70’s?
It showed a hangar with a Phantom in it, running up its engines.
I always wondered what on earth it was all about.
Can anyone enlighten?

Just been knocked down and flattened over the past month as a new facility has been built for the Typhoon

I figure they were just showing off the technology, or maybe to show just how environmentally friendly a Phantom was (irony!)

I figured it was something like that. Just wondered what the point of the advert was.

Der. The hush house was an aircraft engine running facility for the Phantom fleet at RAF Coningsby. Because of the way it was insulated, and the way the air was drawn in and deflected out upwards, even with a Phantom in full reheat inside, it was almost silent outside apart from a very subdued rumble. It was a very impressive building.
