Does anyone know if there is a memorial at Speke or anywhere to the exploits of the MSFU and it’s pilots ????
I spoke to John MacDonald this evening who was a flghter controller with the MSFU, very interesting chap and as with the majority of these chaps “modest”.

There are a few picts in the departure lounge downstairs, CAM ships etc., but that’s about it althoughI think there is/was a plaque too – lost track since the new terminal opened at JLA.

I was a spotter and ATC cadet there during the sixties when the wartime airfield was in use.
No memorial existed at that time, though the decaying wreckage of a wartime casualty could be seen at low tide off the end of the main runway.
