Here are some photo’s taken about ten minutes ago. The seat is evolving, so unless an original one is found :p this one will be fitted in the Halifax cockpit section.
Hope you like them

Simon,
Yes, The wireless operators Seat was covered in Black leather.
Search for pics of na337 and pn323 in the net.

Thanks for the pointers Cees.
I’ve got a good idea of the pilot’s seat now. I’ve also found a photo of a Flight Engineer’s chair here:

Would it just be covered in padded material? It doesn’t look much like the ones in the Revell kit…!

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the message, those pics were taken many years ago in the early stages of the project. The cockpit is nearly finished now. If you look at the Halifax cockpit project topic on these pages you can see the build from start to finish and will answer many of your questions.
There was also a build from Halifax-Phil who was very much advance with a 1/48 resin Halifax . He posted on Britmodeller as well.
Good luck.

Halifax seat photos
Hello everyone
Thought I’d drag up this old thread to see if anyone (Cees…?) could help.
I’ve just started work on the 1/72 Revell Halifax II model, and would like to replace the kit’s pilot seat and the three other seats (for the navigator, flight engineer and WOp?) with some scratch-built ones.
I’m finding it difficult to find good photos or drawings of the pilot’s seat, especially how it’s fitted to the floor (was there a frame under the seat rather than the kit’s solid base?). I’ve found nothing for the other three seats so far. The kit parts for these are the same, and look to me like miniature 1970s office chairs stuck on poles. Were the real things identical too, and what did they actually look like?
Some photos I’ve seen of the Canadian Halifax VII restoration show a folding two-seater bench seat in the nose, but was this just for the Mk.VII (and Mk.III)?
Thanks
Simon

Thanks Al,
I spent most time gathering the fittings, the casting (or so it seems  ) which fits at the front of the seat is in fact welded together from 3 mm steel plate. It worked as some people were fooled to believe I have found an original Halifax seat casting. A bit of creativity helps.
All that needs to be done is the sheet metal bit but a friend of mine who works for KLM as a metalworker has offered to do that. Who am I do refuse :p The cushion is original and stamped A*M 1944.
I had a feeling that Popham would be a bit dissapointing. I also enjoyed having two seperate aerojumbles in one weekend last year. A two day event could be too much.
Talking about the YAM cutaway nose section, I noticed that there was a very good looking (or as Ian Foster said: “where did they got that original seat from????”) pilot’s seat in there. The Halifax has a totally inaccurate seat fitted. Perhaps one day.
Cheers

Excellent stuff, Cees, it looks like you are making really good progress with the project.
I was at the Yorkshire Air Museum last week and spotted a Halifax nose section mock up on display. Sadly, there didn’t seem to be too many genuine Halifax components in it – the control yoke is from an Anson, for example. Still, it helps give an idea of what is inside “Friday 13th”.
By the way, you didn’t miss much at Popham aerojumble last weekend, a trip over from The Netherlands would have been an expensive waste of time.
