How many Ju52s are flying in Germany?

I live mear Frankfurt and I often see Lufthansas example rumbling about. I was up in Cologne last week and I saw another – which appeared to have red engine cowlings. Lufthansas D-AQUI didn´t/doesn´t. What gives?

AFAIK D-CDLH is usually based at Cologne. A bit of useless info is that she is actually painted with her original registration as she was D-AQUI before being sold to Norway in the 1930’s.

List of all eight flying Ju 52 worldwide:

  • Ju-Air |HB-HOP/HOT/HOS |Ju 52/3m g4e |Dübendorf/Swizerland |former A-701/702/703 of Swiss AF, original BMW motors
  • Ju-Air |HB-HOY |CASA 352L |normaly in Mönchengladbach/Germany |now fitted with original BMW-motors
  • Deutsche Lufthansa Berlin-Stiftung |D-CDLH |Ju 52/3m |Hamburg |painted as D-AQUI, P&W-Motors, now with 3-blades props, formerly known as Iron Annie N52JU
  • South African Airways Historic Flight |ZS-AFA |CASA 352 |Swartkop/South Africa
  • Commemorative Air Force |N352JU |CASA 352L |Gary Regional Airport/Indiana/USA |operated by ‘The Great Lakes Wing’ of ‘Commemorative Air Force’, P&W-motors, 3-blades props
  • Amicale J.B. Salis |F-AZJU |CASA 352 |Cerny/La Ferté Alais near Paris/France |restauration finished 2003

Sorry, I didn’t find out how to set up a table here

So for Germany that is the Lufthansa one and the Ju-Air Hapimag in Mönchengladbach normaly, but in the south in the Munich area we often have one of the three other Ju-Air Ju 52 flying.

@James D:
What you saw should have been the CASA of Ju-Air which is painted in Hapimag-Colours (see: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/571634/L/ )

Thanks for all that. I guess it could have been the Hapimag one. I was looking into the sun I think – but its hard to belive I missed the rest of that paint scheme! It certainly sounded different to Lufthansas example.

Thanks guys!

Doesn’t Ju-Air have in flying condition three genuine Ju-52s, and one Casa 352?

Ju-Air operates 3 or 4 ex-Swiss-Air-Force Ju-52s. I think during the summer months one example is based at Mönchengladbach for sightseeing tours.

The plot thickens!

I haven´t heard of Swiss Ju Air – how many aircraft do they operate?

This one definitely wasn´t static!

AFAIK, there´s just the “D-AQUI” (= D-CDLH) flying. And the planes of Swiss Ju-Air have blue cowlings.
But I´m not sure, whether Cologne airport hasn´t got a Ju-52 on static display. I will find out.
